Friday started early -- 6:30 a.m. -- but we were already running late by the time [livejournal.com profile] qbear and I turned off the Buffy rerun and left the house at 7:30 a.m. We caught the bus to BART, and rode in, as always do, kissing one another goodbye when Jack departed at the Montgomery station. To imagine a city where two longtime partners can't comfortably kiss each other goodbye ... we're glad we live in San Francisco.

My workplace provides bagels on Fridays, so I enjoyed a poppyseed bagel (more like a bun, really) before getting down to work. Midmorning I took a break and ambled over to the nearby urban mall to check out a sale at Express Men, formerly Structure. Got a pair of pants and some $6 t-shirts, very nice. Saw local bear Frank in the Pottery Barn (where he works) and said hello with a hug and kiss. Frank and his partner are nice guys but we've never gotten to know them very well; they pretty much epitomize the concept of "friendly acquaintance."

Around 12:20 I left work to grab some pad-se-ewe at a nearby Thai takeout before ambling over to the monthly Bear Lunch at Justin Herman Plaza. [livejournal.com profile] fuzzygruf and [livejournal.com profile] drewbearsf were both there, plus about a dozen more downtown bears, plus some out-of-towners who were visiting for the Folsom Street Fair. I mostly talked music with John, who had been to LA last week with [livejournal.com profile] keanubear and Greg to see Duran Duran, the Cure, Hot Hot Heat, etc. Also met a cute friend of Gary's, who seemed very shy.

Then back to work for a few more hours, and off around 4:30. Back home, had time to straighten up a little before [livejournal.com profile] trwheaton and his partner F. arrived, bearing authentic East Coast bagels, for which we can't thank them enough. We showed them around our house before heading off to Todai in Daly City for a huge Asian seafood buffet -- "the Hometown Buffet of sushi," as Tom said. After downing lots of sushi, lobster, bacon-wrapped scallops and tiny sushi-like pastries, we went to the Canvas Coffeehouse to catch [livejournal.com profile] keanubear and his band The Bobbleheads play. It was a great space, and we were able to enjoy the band while comfortably sitting on couches and enjoying waitress service, which beats your usual rock show. Also attending were [livejournal.com profile] sftekbear, whom we hadn't seen in ages, and his boyfriend Brian, who had played with his new band the night before at the Eagle.

We left around 9 (missing the last song) and went out to Ocean Beach for the last bear bonfire of the season. We didn't know many people there, but we did run into John and Joe (who show up a lot in [livejournal.com profile] drewbearsf's journal), [livejournal.com profile] iberianbear and [livejournal.com profile] bigreddee. We spent most of our time there talking with [livejournal.com profile] iberianbear, who was looking extra cute. We left around 10:30 and dropped Tom and F. (who were really nice) back at their car.

It was the kind of day where being part of the LJ community just added an extra level of enjoyment to our lives. So, thanks, guys.

I forgot to mention the fabulous light show behind the Bobbleheads! It was created by Greg, [livejournal.com profile] keanubear's partner.

Thanks for the kind words about the show.
It was so cool seeing you there!

Greg works really hard on the videos too, I think they are great!
