The chicken was luscious, and a good time was had by all (except the chicken). No mushrooms were harmed in the making of the cacciatore.

Our free-ticket movie, Lost in Translation, was v. good, if too short. It's a bittersweet character piece that takes place entirely in modern-day Japan. No celebrity sighting other than Phil Bronstein, Sharon Stone's ex-husband and editor of the San Francisco Chronicle. Afterwards, the tunnel under Twin Peaks was blacked out, so the subways were not getting through. Rather than take a jammed-pack bus up the hill, we wound up taking a $15 cab ride home, and we didn't get in until 11 p.m. A bit of a false economy with those free tickets.

The music in the movie worked well, and was arranged by Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine fame. I'll probably be picking up the soundtrack.

We also met Geoff the Pyro at the MUNI station, waiting for the N line from South Beach. He's responsible for building the fire at the monthly www.ggreg.com bear bonfires at the beach, and it turned out he's roommates with someone we know. Such a small city this is, sometimes.
