The reason why

OK, so we're planning to go to Las Vegas in late March, as a spring vacation.

"Hey," I tell Jack, suddenly remembering what there is to do in Vegas. "We could go to the Star Trek Experience."

"We have to!" he replies, matter-of-factly. "There's no point in going there if we don't!"

Ohhhh. That sounds fun!

Make sure you do both experiences there. :)

And, you'd also be wise to think about seeing LOVE or KA, both are quite stunning.

Anything else you'd recommend there? I haven't been to Las Vegas since 1975, and Jack has never been there.

We were supposed to go in fall of 2005, and then the Disney Incident happened.

I second the suggestion to see Love.

We should chat sometime. Phone/IM, whatever...

You'll spend a lot of time seeing the various casinos and hotels. Money was no object.

We don't gamble, so I figure our money will go to shows, food and shopping.

If you have an afternoon or a morning, I highly recommend the spa at Mandalay Bay. Great facilities, great massages.

Plus you can get spit on by a fish.

The Wynne, the Belagio (fountain show), Caesars, the Venetian, the volcano at the Mirage, Paris (great buffet), and yes, the Star Trek Experience are all must-sees.

Downtown Experience? Meh.

Something I've never managed to see: The Liberace Museum.

Have a great time!

I'd read someplace that the Mandalay Bay spa is now reserved for hotel guests only. Could that be right??! The web site is unclear on the subject ...

[identity profile] xianjessen.livejournal.com 2008-02-25 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Vegas.com says the following:

Facility fee: Daily charge of $27 for Mandalay Bay guests, $30 non-guests (complimentary with spa treatment of more than $60). On weekends, non-guests are allowed in the spa with a purchase of a service.

http://www.vegas.com/spas/mandalay.html

This would be a policy change if it is current--you used to be able to go to facilities on weekends without a massage. I'd call to make sure.

You know, if I had one problem with the facility is that the men's steam and sauna rooms could be aggressively cruise-y. Maybe the policy change was in reaction to that. (

Old post of mine on the subject:

The soaking pools are amazing, though. I hope you can make it work.

If you go to the bar afterwards, look for the Borg-assimilated Teddy Bears and then try and finish a warp core breach drink at the bar. LOL

If you like The Beatles go see LOVE by Cirque at the Mirage. We saw it when we were driving out here to Canada last summer and it was amazing!

Star Trek Experience trumps "O" anyday. ;)

Hey, when are you going to be there? Jeff and I are going to be there Easter weekend.

Darn, we're not going to overlap. We get there Sunday, March 30th.
