So [livejournal.com profile] qbear and I are walking down the sidewalk to the bus stop this morning, and I find myself on Jack’s left, walking closest to the street.

“Oh no!” Jack says. “Your garments will be splattered by passing carriages!”

So I cross over and walk on his right, closest to the houses lining the street.

“Now you’ll be pelted,” he says, “with slops throw out of windows by fishwives!”

“So what am I supposed to do?” I ask.

“You have to decide!” Jack says, “It’s slops … or clops!”

He hastily adds, “You know, clops, from passing horses … clippy clop, clippy clop.”

“That’s a bit of a stretch.”

“My rhymes,” he responds proudly, “can’t all be gems.”

Woo-hoo! The [livejournal.com profile] pagercub will be there, too. He's leaving this weekend for two weeks of training at Pomme HQ in Cupertino.

I always picture these interactions between you two like the beginning segment of Kate and Allie. They started each show with like a thirty second interchange about something random and cute... I'm to the point where you guys even have your own theme music.

They do have their own theme music: Holiday for Strings! (OK, you probably don't know it, but if you heard the music you'd agree!)

In "The Poet and the Tax Collector," Vladimir Mayakovsky compares writing poetry to mining for Radium. "You must go through tons of raw ore until you find one thing that glows in the dark!"

Clops!

If you were in Germany you could have some schnapps after the clops or slops.

If horses are involved, shouldn't it be plops?
