Bald men obey the rules

So [livejournal.com profile] qbear and I tried out a new branch of our health club last night. The scene at the pool was odd – Jack in his required swim cap, patiently doing his Australian crawl … while in the lanes next to him, various women swam their laps, with their gigantic masses of Debra Messing-like hair trailing behind them, unfettered and free.

(No, it doesn’t make much sense – the top of Jack’s head is far less hairy than the rest of him.)

So he's gonna have to get one of those kinky rubber suits?

Thanks for that wonderful imagery!

Maybe because "icky boys" don't wash their hair?

This totally makes no sense. I would call the club's attention to this. If they require men to wear caps, but not women, that's sexual discrimination. (Depending upon how much trouble you feel like making.)

Nope, they post that bathing caps are required for all, but they don't enforce their own rules.

What club is this, and what exactly are the rules?

Is it just that the rules aren't enforced?

Ha! You just answered my post. I need to type faster.

It's Club One. I'd rather they didn't enforce the rules -- hair in the pool filter should be just part of the cost of doing business. But it does seem that men obey the rule more than women.

Maybe it is for Jack's safety. So that he can't scratch his delicate bald head on the side of the pool??

If they were smart they'd cross-breed pirahnas with electric clippers and unless them in to pool on the unsuspecting swimmers. Problem solved.

What health club is that? I never understood that. At my childhood Y, we had to swim naked, which seemed very undignified and "wrong" at age 7.

Club One. They began "requiring" bathing caps a few years ago.

I wouldn't mind swimming naked at a health club (no wet suits to worry about!) but only if it were all-male.
