We're the Bill and Joe of the west
May. 18th, 2011 07:48 pmWe're back in Palm Springs again. Jack (
qbear) is spending about 75% of his time down here, since he can telecommute, but I have to come back to the bay area to work periodically. The move is proceeding slowly, a carload at a time, and sometime this summer we're planning to rent a U-haul or find some movers to move the few large pieces of furniture that won't fit in the car.
Today, while Jack worked, I acted like a housewife and did the shopping (Target and grocery); dusted, vacuumed and mopped; caught up on work e-mails; cut up cardboard for the recycling bin; got the car washed and gassed up; and tried to nap in the hammock, but it was too chilly out (70!), and I kept being investigated by our local nesting hummingbird, Humdinga. The housecleaning is necessitated by the visit this coming weekend of two of our dearest friends, Bill (
bearbeat) and Joe from Boston, who have never been to Palm Springs before. We hope to introduce them to friends down here, take the tram up the mountain, eat out a lot, and spend a lot of naked time in the pool.
(As I think I've mentioned before, we think of Joe and Bill as "the Jack and Steve of the East." Joe is a year younger than Jack, Bill is a year younger than me, they've been together a year less than Jack and I have been together, and we have many, many parallels in our lives.)
