My day so far
Dec. 30th, 2008 09:28 amJack was asking me yesterday how I filled my day, since I'm not working ... so I thought I'd write down what I did for at least the first hour of today.
7:18 a.m.: Wake up, jump out of bed.
7:19: Turn on computer.
7:20: Use toilet, wash hands, brush teeth, take vitamins.
7:23: At computer, look out window and see that there is no breeze whatsoever. Nothing is moving -- even the fog is stationary.
7:24: Open a browser window. Notice that of the new bits of my web site that I uploaded last night, there's one broken image link.
7:27: Open FTP, reconnect that image.
7:31: Look over the photo galleries I uploaded last night: Christmas 2008, protests at City Hall in October 2008, Winter 2005-2006 and our misbegotten trip to Disneyland in 2005 in which Steve broke his leg. Note that there's quite a few LJers in the photos, including
britbear and
ponycub,
bearbeat,
shprdbear,
carytown,
bobaloo,
djmrswhite,
jimmyadventure,
peterinoakland and
poohbearjim. Also, the Winter 2005-2006 photos contain a closeup of some psychedelic wallpaper in an open house
foodpoisoningsf told us about, a bizarre "Hollywood Regency" house in Seacliff with a slidable roof.
7:37: Hear Jack stirring in the bedroom. Look out window, notice there is a slight breeze now.
7:38: Decide captions on broken leg photo gallery are flat and lifeless. Rewrite slightly, then upload to web site.
7:51: With Jack out of bed, I go back into the bedroom to open the blinds and make the bed.
7:54: Lather up and shave my neck and cheeks. Lightly trim back beard and moustache.
8:01: Sit back down at computer and begin checking messages. Answer BearCiti messages from
weebull and
ultrabithorax, among others.
8:10: Messages done, so begin checking e-mail.
8:16: Hear Jack making noises in the bedroom, so go in to get dressed. Find Jack sitting in the chair, putting on socks. We discuss The Sound of Music, which we'd seen last weekend, and sing lines from "The Lonely Goatherd."
8:22: Back at computer, checking e-mail. (E-mail relating to my job search will take more time, so this is all personal e-mail, and spam.)
8:23: Close e-mail and go downstairs, to get ready to take Jack to work. Take gym bag downstairs with me.
8:25: Jack putters about kitchen, getting some fruit and a V-8, while I eat a small container of gingerbread yogurt.
8:31: We set off for work (Jack) and the gym (me).
My plans for the rest of the day:
-- Dust the furniture
-- Finish reading/responding to/saving e-mail.
-- Lunch with neighbor
savoirbear, and discussion of job-hunting strategies
-- Empty trash and recycling out of the kitchen. Throw old the old dried-up lemons in the fruit bowl.
After Jack gets back home, Costco and Safeway. I'll need to make a grocery list before we go.
