Well, we wound up drawing to a tie in the Canasta tournament with my mom and aunt, at five games apiece:

However, I added up all the points for all the games, and it turned out that Jack and my aunt won by a mere 15 points! So it was effectively a tie ... at least, that's what my very-competitive mom clings to.

I took mom and my aunt to the Oakland airport today, the final day of their 11-day visit. Yesterday my aunt treated us to a three-hour Gray Line Tour of San Francisco, something Jack and I had never done before, and a trip to the touristy wax museum at Fisherman's Wharf. The double-decker bus tour was pleasant, and we even scored the best seats, the front seats on the second level, right behind a big picture window. We even learned an odd factoid or two, although the driver/narrator also got a few details wrong, like repeatedly referring to Mt. Davidson as Mt. Davis.
The wax museum bored me. Here's one of the better scenes, a re-creation of a Norman Rockwell magazine cover:

Tonight I made Iranian Eggplant and Beef, topped with yogurt cheese. It was delicious, thanks to new friend Alan from Burbank, who's visiting SF and brought us sour grapes and dried limes:

So long as I'm posting photos, here's myself and Jack at the performance of Peter and the Wolf at the SF Symphony last weekend:

Happy holidays, everyone.
