The morning
Jan. 11th, 2008 01:22 pmSo I'm driving
qbear to work this morning, and we pass a new store with a sign out front, advertising comics, toys and records.
"That used to be a drug store," Jack said.
"Well, people nowadays don't want drugs, they just want to be entertained," I replied.
"That used to be our entertainment!", Jack said, affecting a crotchety hippy persona.
"San Francisco has changed over the years …"
"It's too bad!" Jack spat. "Dang health nuts!"

Managed to visit
f8n_begorra in the hospital this morning, still recuperating after his emergency appendectomy the other day. Was thinking afterwards that I'm very fortunate to be able to do the things that make me the person that I'd like to be -- someone who has the time to visit the sick, help friends move, keep a clean house, work in the garden, make Jack's supper, and improve myself with classes, studying and reading. I'm not saying my goal in life is to be a housewife, but having my job offshored last year is far from the worst thing that could have happened … for one thing, my appendix is in good shape. Get well soon, Robbie.
