Third day in a row!

While I was away last spring, Jack bought a big red-and-yellow rug for the kitchen. In the months since then, it became spattered and spotted, and basically looked a mess. Yesterday I took it outside, and with some Oxy-Clean, elbow grease, and the hose, I managed to get it looking like new.

And it's still damp. As in, soaked. I'm hoping the whole thing will dry before it starts to mildew. Maybe I could blow dry it? (Yeah … like we need, or have, blow dryers …)

Great news! Not only is our longtime friend oac visiting later this month, but bearbeat will also be out here. As I've mentioned before, I like to pretend Bill is the east coast version of me, but really he's handsomer, sweeter and much more talented.

These web sites just crave endless tinkering, don't they? This morning I cleaned everything up, like grouping all the images together. This afternoon I'll be working on the galleries section.

I dreamed last night that little annoying actress Dakota Fanning came to my family reunion, as she was some sort of distant cousin. She was stuck up and depressed about being there, so to try to cheer her up I crouched, jumped up and exploded through the ceiling into the sky, but what she didn't know was that I didn't have that ability, it was all an illusion, and I was actually hiding invisibly in a corner of the room. Stupid girl!

No apologies

Yeah, I know people think Jack and I are pretty good in the kitchen. We've both worked as short order cooks, we wrote that little cookbook a few years ago, and we've had any number of you over for brunch, dinner, homemade pizza, lasagna, braciole, full Thanksgiving dinners, whatever.

But sometimes, at the start of the cold, wet season, all we really want is a big pot of beanie-wienie. Which is what we had tonight.
