qbear and I are driving to Costco today, listening to a bizarre shuffleplay radio station, when “Killing Me Softly With His Song” comes on.
“This is only one of the most beautiful songs ever,” Jack says. “This version is some sort of dance remix, though. I prefer the original, by Roberta Flack.”
“Know what I always liked by Roberta Flack?” I respond. “That duet she did with Donny Hathaway, ‘Where Is The Love.’”
Then I start singing it, romantically: “Where is the love, where is the looooove …”
And Jack joins in: “Where’s that love? Where you hiding? Come on love! Come on out! Here, love love love love!”
