So
qbear and I are on the bus into work, when we pass a bookstore in Noe Valley that often has color-coordinated books in its windows.
“The bookstore has pink books this month,” I tell Jack. “Look, they have one called The Fuchsia is Now.”
“Hmm,” Jack muses. “That’d be a good drag name, ‘Fuchsia Shock.’”
“What about ‘Fuchsia Tents’?”
“I like Fuchsia Shock better.”
“Is ‘Fuchsia’ even a girl’s name?” I ask.
“It could be,” Jack says. “Look at Keeping Up Appearances, where there’s Hyacinth, Daisy, Violet and Rose. And there are other flower names.”
“You could say, ‘And here’s my daughter, Bougainvillea.’”
“That’s no good -- the other kids would call her Booger.”
“Well,” I conclude, “I could introduce you to my parents and save time by saying, “Meet Carl, my dad, and my ChrysantheMum.”
