Broken leg, day 74
Dec. 13th, 2005 07:56 amGot out of the house Thursday and Friday nights, for a holiday party and for
moroccomole's book signing at A Different Light. Saw dozens of LJers, but I won't list them because it's ancient history at this point. I do remember getting out of the car Thursday night, my vest pockets containing little foil-wrapped chocolate balls, and seeing that they had fallen out and were rolling down the street and plop, plop, into the storm sewer. In this case the broken leg protected my dignity by keeping me from running after them.

Over the weekend Jack cleaned out the living room of all signs that I was there. My couch pillows, gone; my Vicodin, gone; my reading material, gone. It is now a pristine living room, the kind he likes. He told me that night in bed that "we're not going to use the living room anymore. It's for company, like when the parson comes to visit." He also added clear vinyl slipcovers to his Christmas list.

Dreamed last night that I went to work with one crutch, then forgot it and tried to get home without it. I wound up leaning on strangers, walls, fire hydrants, passing dogs, whatever was handy, in my sad attempt to get home. Hope this wasn't prophetic!
