Most puzzling
So I get home and find
qbear sitting on the bed, playing on his laptop.
“I saw the strangest, most puzzling thing on the way home from the bus stop,” I tell him.
“What’s that?” he asks.
“I was about to cross Portola, at the light, when I noticed that in among that ring of hedges there was a white box, with the word ‘BIRD’ written on it.”
“Did you open the box?”
“Yes,” I say. “And there was a white pigeon, or dove, just sitting in it.”
“Was ‘BIRD’ hand written?”
“Yes, with a magic marker.”
“Well,” he concludes, “It’s truth in advertising! You can’t fault them for that!”
